No more fever. Running nose is sill there. Apprearently, she needs rests to become healthy again. However, both me and kitten daddy wonder if we should start nap time control again or she maybe sleepless later.

Recovering

She stopped having cold drops since last night. Yes, she still coughs occasionally but her fever is gone and her nose seems to be better. Another sign is that she won't stay still whe we hold her, not like the time when she was having fever.

Since I didn't feel so well, I went to bed about 11:30 last night. Kitten daddy watched her for me till nearly 4 in the morning (and yes, we need to work on the sleeping thingy after this) then he kept working on his paper till 6.

38.1. She had another drop of baby tylenol in the morning.

I was up till 5 earlier in the morning cos of her unstable sleep. This noon, I will have chicken soup with Chinese herbs for lunch. Hope it can do some good for me and Jessie.

Before she fell asleep, I held her in my arms most of the time. She seems to be much softer and quieter than before. Now, I hope she can have at least 4 hours of nice sleep and restore some strength. As to myself, I should go to bed before getting a cold. My throat feels a bit itchy.

She has another drop of baby tylenol. Before that, her temperature was up to 39 degree.

Now I really miss her noisy and sleepless nights. Having a healthy baby is just better than anything.

I took her to the doctor this morning. He said that kitten is nice and strong and this cold will probably last just a few days. What I need is to give her a bit drop to relief her fever, which I just did. And now she's resting nice and warm in her crib.

I think it's just hard seeing your own child getting sick. It makes me worry.

Kitten flu

00:50. She bursted out into tears in her crib. Her voice was sound as clear as used to be and her nose is running. Thoughout the day, I have been suspecting that she might have a cold because her voice sounded a little bit different and now I hate to see my suspiction comes true. We calm her and and hold her for 25 minutes then she went back to sleep. In so far her temperature is normal and we'll keep watching.

This morning, I took Jessie to the Child Care Resource & Parenting Center to see what a playgroup is like. Basically, they have scheduled activities (free play, snack time, craft time and circle time) but this playgroup does not have one specifically designed for babies. Fortunately, other kids in the play group were very interested in Jessie. They came forward for playing infant toys with her or wanting to hold her. At the end, they also suggested me what kind of toys I should borrow for Jessie (Believe me, thess kids are pro because they've played almost every toy there). Finally, with their help, I took 3 toys and paied 15 dollars of annual membership fee. Thanks to Jamie (4), Shannon (5) and Emily (4).

Unbreakable

This evening, we had a family DVD night watching Unbreakable. Pin-Han spent quite a while hook up our Thinkpad with TV and made DVD+caption work. Basically, the result is quite ok but the movie itself is disappointing. Caroline was quite well behaved throughout the film while Jessie became a bit fussy later.

Jessie starts to sense the existence of her own fists around 3 months old. Since then, watching her own fists has been one important daily activity. Recently, she also moves her fingers a lot while watching. Looks like she has discovered her own fingers, too.

I just did a major cleaning of my house. This is one thing I can finally do when Jessie resume her normal day/night schedule. (Otherwise, I was just too tired and sleep with her till noon). Of course, the other reason is that Pin-Han is watching her and working on his paper at the same time during my cleaning period. Well, nice to have someone standing by.

My friends helmut and kazue speak english one day and japanese the next around their daughter Erika. She's now bilingual. And they throw in German. As an ESL specialist, you may agree that modeling practice is more important than any lesson.

As for music, I play 7-8 instruments. I play often and I have fun. I'm also very bad. The worst of all my friends. But they all read music. Many had careers in music. All gave up because they weren't good enough. Some played for major international orchestras. I still play. Why? Cause I love it. Challenge kitten's mind with music and the making of music, not the study of music or appreciation, if you want her to have a tool for life... of course you two have to play/sing to her often. Who cares if it is bad, even better. I used to think that my parents never shared music with me, as they can't play anything. But I grew up with my dad singing in the car very badly, and I can still sing those songs, badly.

We had family dinner at East Side Marios tonight. Jessie had a 40-minute-nap and Caroline stays alert and happy.

"Will you send your kid to music or whatsoever lessons?" "Does this help providing her more choices and opportunities for her future or mostly just a fullfillment of your parenthood dream?"

Pin-Han and I tended to think of sending her to this type of class as an opportunity while Pin-I thought the other way around. "But I hope she can speak 3 languages, that's all." He said.

This picture has been select by Picture.com as one of the semifinalists in 2001 photo contest and will also be publish on their annual book, Nature's Palette. Now the problem is 69.95 US. Although 20 has been deduct from its origunal price, I think it is still too high for me. Sometimes I would wonder if they choose me for selling the book. But I'd rather believe it's the lovely scene here that make it selected. :-)

Baby and Me

This afternoon, I attend a support group for mom with baby under a year old called Baby and Me. The first good thing about this support group is that I got the chance to see many babies, most of them are older than mine. What I like the most is too see how other moms interact with their babies and how these babies smile and roll. I just learned a few tricks and could picture what Jessie may act like in the months to come.

She turns, she crawls!

Without any help, now Jessie turned and laid on her stomach. Then, her little lags pushed the bed sheet so hard that it made her move a little bit. However, since she still could not move her hands accordingly, she end up in a not so comfortable, bed-facing position, she cried.

Pretty soon, after calming by her daddy. She fell asleep. The time is 2:45 a.m.

Later at 3:15 a.m., we heard her crying and rushed to her room. This time, she has already rolled on her tummy, crying.
