Teething ring

Kitten can reach the teething ring on her saucer. That means her arm/hand has gained quite some amount of strength and accuracy.

Kitten had nutricious milk tonight. I mean, we went to restaurant that has all you can eat lobster, shrimp, fish,... cakes, stuffs like these. Thanks to Joyce's treat.

Sept.28 Weight Record

18 pounds. 8170g approximately. With all of her clothes and new diaper on. We should consider a new car seat soon. :-)

Nite Owl Kitten

After napping for 30 minutes, kitten awaked in her bed. After 20 minutes of mursing, she became fully awake. Yesterday, we let her cry in the crib for quite a while and kitten daddy hold her to sleep. But today, I don't know.

Early kitten

She gets up at 7 this morning, too early for both me and her daddy. Though we maintained our daily routine, I think both of us are tired... :-p

Kitten granpa and grandma are coming from China this Saturday. We'll have a busy but fun week then. :-)

Kitten ate mango

First she just tasted it abit but then she wanted to suck and bit it so badly that I decided to mash some for her .Kitten papa didn't like this idea much cos he think this friut is too sweet. Eventually, she had about 3 spoons of mashed mango.

Sleep
--
Ok, she's falling asleep again, around 11:20. As yesterday, she did not have long naps in the day time and we try to keep her awake in the evening. Until now, she's been awake once for nursing for 15 minutes. Although we have not move her to her crib yet, I hope this sleep can last till early morning.

10:30 p.m.

Believe it or not, her night sleep started about this time. Later, she woke up twice every 45 minutes or so then was calm down once by nursing and later by rocking. No long naps this afternoon and evening, I think, is the key factor for today. Oh, she also had rice sereal twice today, noon and evening. Now she seems to accept it very well. I think I will consider adding something. :-)

I believe I will have to get up early tomorrow now that kitten goes to bed early. Time for bed.

Again...2 a.m. doesn't look good. Maybe it's the 6 o'clock long nap that affects. I should try avoiding that tomorrow. Well, now she crys again.

At 2:10, Kitten daddy cannot stand hearing her crying so miserably and took her out. In a few minutes, Kitten fell asleep. Well, now I am going to sleep, too.

AWAKE

Besides making video clips, this another reason that makes me come here and post. Yes, she's still awake and both me and her daddy has traveled back and forth her crib three times. I remember Stella used to tell me about the 30 minutes cry-in-the-crib thingy but I don't have the courage to do it yet. Now she crys like crazy in my room and I wish I am in the shower or not in this house. *sigh*

Tomorrow I am going to a mother group talking about sleeping, hope it will help.

Baba

Kitten speaks! And not mama first. :-p

Recently, she starts to make clear [a] and [i] sound, occationally combined them with a [g] so it sounds like gaaaaa. (You happy, Jason?) Until last night, she joined [b] and [d] sound into her sound mixing system so we have baba and da. Both kitten daddy and I were there at the spot and we were thrilled. Hope she can introduce [m] sound soon. :-)

In Ottawa

We came to Ottawa yesterday and stayed Pin-I's place. After sitting in the car for hours in the daytime. Kitten was still able to sleep around midnight, which is really worth noting. What'smore, Kitten daddy worked a bit after we all went to bed and then slept on the floor so that me and the baby can have a better sleep. Great daddy.

Kitten fell asleep at about 11:20, waked up again at 12:00 and fell asleep 15 minutes later with a bit nursing. The jumper helps a bit, I think.

Kitten in the box

Can't wait for the repair kit because Kitten need to exercise to have better sleep at night. We bought a new jumper for her. After setting up, Joyce put a paper box under neath with a sound toy inside. Baby Kitten stompt it happily. "Looks as if she's stomping cockroach." Daddy said.

Awake

Ok, pacifier doesn't work that great. Kitten awakes at 1:45 and is still pretty hyper now (and spits the pacifier out, by the way).

Pacifier

Ok, this is another long story. To begin with, I have no special preference for this little thingy for sucking and the reason is simple - it blocks the major portion of the baby's face. Think of the smiles that are hidden behind the pacifer, I just hate to miss that.

However, I would not want to see use the self-helping pacifier, her finger. I have witnessed how difficult it could be to quit finger sucking, therefore, using pacifier became the best (and only) option.

Kitten hasn't form a strong habit of finger sucking yet, although she tends to point her fingers toward her mouth often. A month ago, I gave her a pacifier and she accept it happily and easily, for 2 days. Although her interest in the pacifier wained then, she didn't seem to like sucking her thumbs that often. "Maybe it's teething, maybe it's just a transitional matter, or maybe she's just exploring." I think. Soon I drop this matter off my mind.

Recently, she seems to have the craving for sucking again. She likes to nurse to sleep and will ask for another one an hour after. It's just the kind of nursing that you know it's not just for easing her hunger. However, I am slow enough to think of the forgotten pacifier since this has been going on for weeks. Again, I took the pacifier from the shelf, wash it, and gave it to Kitten -- she accept it again.

Tonight, she goes to bed with her pacifier at about 1 and hasn't woke up yet. Well, we'll see. :-)

Broken Jumper
--


Her legs are getting strong and she jumps really hard. But I don't think this should happen. All in a sudden, I heard a breaking sound and she knee down to the ground. Fourtunately enough, she was not hurt.

As shown in the picture, the head of the spring is broken. Is that because this product is not strong enough? Strangely enough, we are actually thinking of buying another one because Kitten likes it a lot. She jumps and turns and we also play games with her when she's hanging there. Hum, I think I will call Fisher Prise tomorrow and see what they are going to say, or, we'll go for a different one.

Sept. 14 W Record

7750g. With overnight diaper. She probably only gains a little weight since last weighting due to the flu that she had 2 weeks ago. Therefore, even this is just a little weight growth. We are happy.

SHe's still awake. Joyce, me, and kitten daddy take turns taking care of her. Yeah, at this time, you really need more than one person to do this stuff.

Mary gave me a box of baby cookie after her trip back from Montreal. I tried a bit the other day and she seemed to like it. This time, Joyce helped me taped it. The background voice is from Mary and Joyce. Also, Kitten's cookie sucking sound was also taped. :-)

Rolling Baby

Kitten can roll back now, although few luck is required in some situations.

This morning, I watched a Japanese mom chasing her 16 month old son while trying have him ware diaper. At that moment, I felt the limit mobility of baby kitten is like a piece of cake for mom job.

Moms are just like that, I guess (so is daddy?), As thier belived little one grows older, they gain more strength through holding/lifting the little ones; they become more alert to all the movement. Once a little girl are fully transformed in motherhood.

Night kitten

Kitten stayed up till 3 again. This time, it was daddy that stayed with kitten all by himself. Mom went to bed at 11:00 p.m. Thanks to daddy. :-)

One thing I can finally announce, Kitten is fully recovered! Yay! Gee, it was a rough week. We all suspect that she must lose some weight. Maybe I'll nurse often. We love chubby kitty.

Baby kitten puts whatever she can handle into her little mouth. That's her way of exploring the world.
I still have a bit problem with getting video clip from my DV. For example, this clip should be 30 sec long but was shrinked to 21 sec in the puter. Therefore, everything looks in really fast motion which not real.

Moms

This picture was taken a month ago when Carolyn was a month old. We three new moms (well, Mary's is les than 3 weeks) got together and had lunch. Now this should be a historical picture because Stella has moved to Ottawa. Looks like we may only get monthly update of our niece kitten.

She needs a mid-night nursing, almost everyday. After that, she will have another wake up in the early morning when I won't care/be able to look at my watch. Now, the thing is, should I start training her to fall back to sleep by herself? As her sleeping routine is not completely right on her schedule, I will probably consider this later. Still, I am not quite sure whether she's really hungry or just want comfort from Mommy.

Early kitty

Early kitty get the -- MOM.
She was up at 6 this morning, After nursing, I expected her to fall back asleep. However, few minutes after putting her back to her crib, I started to hear moving sound from the crib. As she discovered my face appearing beside the bumper, she gave me a full, big smile and start to shake her arms and legs about. "ok, time to wake up." I told myself.
