SA library

We had lunch here, a foot long sub. Dada has to revise his paper so we take turns watching kitten and use internet. In a few minutes, dada will be able to submit his paper to his boss and we can finally enjoy the bright sunny sky out there.
It's nice that we can have internet access here. Save us big money ($15 US in marriot for one shot). Plus, the view is good here. We can see high way and downtown.

Kitten family speaking from SA central library. We did not went to NBA last night because it is sooo cold. We even took a taxi back to our hotel from the conference center, which normally just takes us 10-15 minutes of walk.
Today is our last day in SA. However, sine dada still needs to work on his papar, we will not go too far but stay mainly in dawntown. Although it is still a little bit chilly outside, the sun has already out and it looks really beautiful out there.

Just read the weather report on USA news. It's colder than Kingston today! So, guess where kitten and I went to most often - the guest room prepared by the conference! We had lots of fruit, muffins and juice there. Anyway, I guess we are not going anywhere special today, just tooo cold out there.
By the way, we've been to the same restaurant for steak lunch for 3 days. The reason is simple, it's fast, inexpensive, and it has a chair that Kitten like. We both think that it's better than other big name restaurant because we cannot really taste anything if we have a fussy baby. Therefore, we may go there again and again until we left.
Papa got a deadline for his book at the end of January. "I will start living in the library after we go back", he said.

Cloudy, windy and local people say that there maybe snow in north SA. Now, the weather is closer to winter.
Kitten has been really well behaved. We together has visited the Alamo and walk along the Riverwalk. This afternoon, we'll probably take a trolly to the Market place. Lots of video and photos will be posted after we return to Kingston in December.

Recently, Kitten's afternoon nap can last over 1 hour. In fact, it was 3 hours long yesterday and 1.5 hours today. The good part is that it doesn't seem to affect much on kitten night sleeping time (well, we had it at 1:15, but still good when it's not 3). Another new thing I do is that I stopped fooling around when kitten falls asleep but go to bed with her. This at least make her feel safe and fall asleep. I know this is not a good idea in the long run, but I will do this to establish her good sleeping time. I hope.

Since this morning, we had 4 diapers. That means, we had 2 extra poop in the day. I spoke with Laura, and she told me that she always brought her daughter to the toilet everytime when she saw the sign of pooping. "This way, she won't poop on the diaper but will let you know through her sound, facial expression and body language." I guess it worth a try for kitten. Before that, I'd like to figure out why we have multiple hard poops in a day. Could be food, or could be me.

Sleep, baby sleep

Ever since we stop the trial, life became easier. These days, Kitten usually has a mini nap in the morning, a long nap (1-1.5 hr) in the afternoon, another one in the evening and then falls asleep around midnight. Now, the only issue is >3 times awakes in the night. But I guess I will live with that for another while. One thing for sure, is that I will go to bed early so that she won't get panic at her first awake in 30 minutes.

High Chair
--
Kitten gets on the high chair! She always fell to the other side last month so we usually have our meal in the saucer. Now that she can sit better in the high chair, we can eat more formally now.
One question, Kitten plays while she eats. She often jumps and turns around and put toys into her month if she eats in the saucer. Now she's in the high chair, but she still likes to have a few blocks at hand. Is this a bad habit?

Actually, it starts earlier before midnight but she woke up 20 minutes later. I went into the room and nurse her. However, she seemed pretty alert after nursing so I decided to stay beside her in the dark. She rolled, made tiny sounds and I had to grab her back beside me when she rolled off too far. In about half minutes or so. She fell asleep again. Peace and quiet.
I think this will become a new pattern for me to try in the coming week. It looked like Kitten can fall asleep by herself, but she needs mom/dad to be by her side. It has been working for two days and kitten no longer have to cried madly to sleep. Hope it works out well.

A bit earlier

For the past 2 days, Kitten fell asleep around mid-night but wake up pretty often so both of our quality of sleeping was not so good (so we missed the last session of books for babies because I am so sleepy). Looking on the bright side, now we can sleep earlier. :-)

Kitten has broken voice. Maybe because she's been crying madly to sleep for many days. I did not keep a record about yesterday just because it was like previous days. Therefore, we decide to resume our old old sleep habit, but will try not nurse her to sleep, rock, maybe. Like Paul said, maybe we'll try again when she grows older.

We played a lot tonight. Kitten was sent to crib at 12:05 and quiet down in 10 minutes. Before that, she has a short nap around 8. Both dada and I expect her to wake up around 12:45. But she awakes now. I am going in.

Rough nightFriday, November 02, 2001

We still have difficulties getting kitten to sleep, we also cannot get rid of the awake after 30 minute of sleep.
Tonight, I kept playing with her until she became tired. Then, I let her nap for 15 minutes and then give her a nice and warm shower. Around 12:30, her sleep sign came up so dada put her into the crib. However, when I went in for checking up, she woke up and cries. This time, both me and dada cannot stand her crying and decided to bring her out. So right now, she's in the saucer, playing and spitting.
Despite of the sleeping problem we have, she is still our angel. Nothing can stop us from posting her lovely pictures. Today, she made friend with Joyce bear.

Kitten went to bed early today because her last nap was short. Ok, now she wakes up.
11:10 Kitten cried for 20 minutes. She sounded really miserable so I decided to give her some comfort. No long after both me and dada went in, she throw up. So we picked her up again and washed her. We decided not to put her back so soon until the tiredness sign come up. Now she's in the jumper.
we'll probably have another 2-o'clock-night again.
01:55 Dada put Kitten back to her crib. Her crying last for 5 minutes.
I think we are sure if Kitten's tired or sleepy, there's no need to nurse or rock her to sleep. And the good thing is that the length of her crying is shorter and shorter. However, what we haven't been able to solve is the night awake thing, which happened again tonight. Still have no good idea how to deal with it.

Not too bad. I hope we can help her get into her night sleep without the short awakening.
She ate and played well today. We made it to the baby story time in the morning and visited Mary in the afternoon. In addition, we have started working toward 3 meals a day. She started eating carrot paste yesterday. Again, sandwiching is working great and I have no complaints.
