It's sunny and bright today. My sis and I managed to visit the bank by taxi and our driver, Mr. star, gave us 10% discount since I have become his repeated customer. As a third year student in univ. he enjoys his part-time job as a cab driver very much. In addition, he meets a lot of friends from his cab. Since he is quite friendly, I decide to call him whenever me and Kitten need a lift.
Later we took kitten for a walk in early afternoon and bought some rice cookie for her. Kitten seemed to take it pretty well. I think I must bring some more back to Canada.
I did not go out again after returning home from the walk, although the sun still shone so brightly outside. My concerns are the traffic and the air. Traffic is mad and street air is not-so-fresh. Again, these are the things that I was not quite aware of before. Now having Kitten on my mind, my thoughts are really different.
Mastitis comes back. So I am on antiboitics again.

I used to be one of them, the motorcycle riders. But now I feel somewhat terrified by the traffic. This afternoon, I was suppose to ride through half a city for personal banking. But I decided to return in the midway because I cannot stand the traffic any more, in addition, I worried about Kitten, whether she can nap by herself at home. Gee...I just cannot believe that I have changed so much.

We're in Ottawa again. Ready for our flight back to Taiwan tomorrow morning. Jessie and Caroline get to know each other once again. This time, they want to play toys (watches, tapes) in each other's hands.

It's so warm outside! I almost feel as if spring time is coming. Kitten went out visit one family sale. We did not buy any thing but had fun playing with kids there. Since the weather is so nice, we also go swinging a bit till Kitten's little nose turn red. After having these activites, Kitten ate lunch without hesitation and fell asleep afterward. Later in the afternoon, we'll go to Cosco to get from Fridge food for dada.

19lb 8 1/2 oz., around 8860g. She lost some weight. The nurse suggested me to consult with my family doctor about this. But since Kitten looks happy, plus I am going back to Taiwan for a month, she then suggested me to take good care of her, and that's enough. Therefore, my prayer of the month is that I hope Kitten can be flu-free. :-)

Because of stomach flu, Kitten and I have a few cave days. Today I took her to Kingston Center for some back biz and also took the chance to walk her around. Interestingly, the air there seemed to make one's eye lids heavy. Half an hour later, Kitten started fuzzying about and fell asleep shortly after.

She came yesterday and taught me how to make whole wheat Bao-tze. It was quite successful and I hope I can do the same next time when I am on my own. While we were busy in the kitchen, little yoyo was put in the play pen and Kitten tried to play (with) her from outside.
After having 4 watery poops, Kitten's getting back to normal, and so are kitten parents. To celebrate, Dada took us all to Lone Star for tortillas and fajitas.

Gone. Kitten's poop gets back to it's usual shape. However, I feel that she became lighter. If we both get up early enough this Friday, we may go check her weight.

I visited local mail office. The lady there suggested that my ginseng may be mixed up with all the fall-out parcels and then wrongly placed. She gave a form and suggest me to call customer service for further advise. Then I called, the man answered my call claim that all Canada post employee are working under surveillance and was impossible to misplace fall-out goods. Still, he opened this case for investigation. "We will call you back in 7-10 days." Well, I will be gone then, I guess I will have to leave this to busy dada.

Three down. Trip to Taiwan postponed.
1/19/2002 6 P.M.
Kitten started vomiting every 30 minutes to 1 hour. We called TeleHealth for advise. The nurse advised taking Pedialyte to prevent from dehydrating. We also called our travel agent to cancel our flight to Taiwan next morning.
1/19/2002 11 P.M.
Kitten was asleep. We used all of our bibs and changed her twice. Kitten dada washed them all and hanged them on Caroline's playpen. I started to feel sick, too. Around mid-night, I threw up the dinner we had and had diarrhea , too.
1/20/2002 6 A.M.
Kitten woke up. She looked very weak and still vomited any fluid that she took. We stayed up for an hour till she fall back asleep. Kitten dada said he was not feeling well, too.
1/20/2002 10 A.M.
Dada had diarrhea and fever. We had a cup of juice and decided to go back to Kingston ASAP. We don't want to spread the sickness in Caroline's place.
1/20/2002 12:30 P.M.
Dada drove all the way back to Kingston. On our way back, Kitten had two small catch cups of Pedialyte. As soon as we arrived at Kingston, we visited After hour clinic right away. The doctor said Kitten was slightly dehydrate but should be all right. Dada will be worn out for a week ("good luck with your PHD", he said to dada). Mama should stop taking antibiotics for Mastitis because it would make the stomach irritation worse.
1/20/2002 2:30 P.M.
Kitten stopped vomiting and started crawling around living room. Dada and mama are exhausted. We all took a long nap later.

Kitten had diarrhea , too. She rejected Pedialyte so we give her a little Gatorade we are drinking. Other than this, she seemed better now. She can crawl around and play her toys.

Tired Kitten fell asleep again. Dada started working but also whining. We hasn't had dinner yet because we worry that it will cause stomach irritation. again. Kitten grandma suggest us to have bread and water. "Just have simple diet," She said.

It was a horrable night last night. Kitten waked me up every 2 hours and my breat hurt so much that I could not sleep. In the morning, I decided to visit Ross, my family doctor. He confirmed it. "It's mastitus. You will be veru sick today and tomorrow." He said."But fortunately you come at the right time.Take antibiotics and you will feel better." So now I am on antibotics. After 4 pills, I do feel better.

Kitten doesn't like to stay at places where her movements are fixed, such as shopping cart and saucer. Everytime, it takes a minute or two to calm her down after putting these places. Especially for the saucer, now her pacience usually last no more than a meal time, and can usually happen once or the bext, twice a day.

Rejecting Veggie
--
My major concern at this time. Kitten has been not so willing to take veggie for weeks. Whenver there is trace of veggie paste of whichever kind, her pace of eating cereal will slow down and chances of finishing the meal will be scarce. This evening, I just retried some carrot and she spitted it out as soon as she sense the chance of taste. Later, she resumed her face speed of eating as I brought her fruit paste. Time to call for ideas again.

We share the cosco bagals we bought yesterday with Kitten. She loves it. The only problem is that when she takes it off her high chair, she tends to drag it with her all over the floor. So I decide to put her into her playpen and let her finish her snack.

Kitten went to bed at ten, and has woke up once since then. 10 has been her sleeping time for 2 nights, which is a good thing. However, her constant awake (about 4 or 5 times) is still a problem. The only time that she has slept longer, I remember, was the time that I fell asleep with her. So what I am planning to do, is to go to sleep a bit early. Well, it's almost 11. I think I can't stay up long.

"Parents buy toys because they like them, not because the babies like them." I heard similar comments from Mary and Pin-I and I think it's true, at least for me. However, in Kitten's point of view, anything within her reach are toys. Mouse tail of my laplop, my mug, my credit cards and my X'mas cards...they all worth a shake and taste. Kleenex is another good one. Not only can she pull tissues out but rattles the box. Nice toy, right?

Milupa veggie cereal. This is the third package that we had. And it is until this third package that I am sure that kitten doesn't like the veggie taste. This afternoon, I gave half of the unfinished package to Mary and opened another fruit flavord Milupa. For this one, Kitten finish it without hesitation. No more chasing and no more microwave reheating.
This picture was taking after the fruit cereal. Trust me, Kitten is happy.

We have had a late kitten again for a about 2 weeks and the normal sleeping time is about midnight, sometimes later. It did not trouble me much until we had a 2 a.m. again last night. This evening while kitten fell asleep around 9:30, I tried to stay with her as long as I can when she woke up 30 minutes later. Fortunately, she did fall back asleep.

We started giving Kitten Cherrio today and it seemed that she liked it a lot. After picking up a small ring of cheerio with her thumb and finger, she would send it with her fingers into her mouth and took it out again. After a few practice, she learned to release the cheerio. Now she can pick up and and eat cherrio pretty easily and fast. No wonder people say it's a pretty good finger exercise.

Mine. I banged it to the door while rushing into kitten's room to put her back to sleep at 2 a.m.. So, this afternoon, dada took us to the hospital. The doctor said there may be a fracture on the bone but nothing can be done about it. "I had it once before and I know it really hurts. Took about 4 to 6 week to heal. " he said. In the end, he bandaided it with another toe and put a cutton ball in between. "Make you feel better. You can still go shopping, unless you don't want to."

Interestingly, this is the face that kitten makes most often recently. We have not figure out what it means yet.
Now kitten can play the blue spinning handle and she stays shorter and shorter in the saucer. In fact, everytime she struggles before we put her into the saucer. I think her day of graduating from the saucer is not too far.
Dada's dance is a trick that will never fade. This evening, Kitten laughed happily seeing dada's for-her-only performance.
This evening, Kitten finished her dinner with mixed veggie paste, veggie cereal, and fruit paste. Ever since she get over the flu, this is the first time that she had these three different things in one meal. I think my strategy of mixing veggie and fruit paste with tiny bit of plain cereal works really well. And one more important tip - serve it warm.

Getting rid of the flu, both of us. Gee, this one is a really long one. Everytime when I saw the commercial for cold reliefing medicine on TV and I thought its for us. Now kitten is having her last exercise of the day - jumping.
