K2 blog: Visiting Dr. Halmo
--
K2 is 19 weeks old now. Both Kitten and I heard its heartbeat in Dr. Halmo's office this morning. This Wed. I'll have an ultra sound scan again then we'll shall know whether K2 is a boy or a girl. :-)

Our once-a-week music program. All activities were pretty well organized/structured during the 30 minute class. Parents and tods do singing, body movement, playing sound-making tools and book reading. Since this is a paid program, we also bring home workbooks, CDs and one small toy instrument made of wood. With that, songs and rhymes we learnt from classroom can be carried out at home and in the car, which extends the 30 minute music lesson through out the week. Ideally, this is the picture of what it may look like, we'll see how it goes. Kitten did well this morning, so mama must do well during the week, too.

Toddler milestone: Separation and independence

Another useful article.

Separation Anxiety
--
When we are at Treehouse or Our Place, it is almost impossible to leave Kitten alone in the playroom with other kids. As soon as she becomes aware of my absence, she would start crying immediately until my return. This Friday, she cried in Victoria's arm for 15 minutes that I decided to bring her with me to the group. How long will it take for her to get used to be with other adults and kids? Couples of weeks, I guess. Or should I just wait until she can adjust herself, just like the way she adjust her own sleeping pattern? I think I will keep trying for a few times and see.

After reading this
article about separation anxiety, I think one thing I can improve is saying goodbye to Kitten before I leave instead of sneaking out. I will try it out next week.

Plus pictures!

Kitten likes to try on hats.

Playing with animals.

Staking up cans. After playing with staking up toys, she obviously transfers this skill to daily items.

Treehouse
--
We returned to Treehouse this morning. This time, I did not leave Kitten for a single minute. Since her nose is still running, I decided not to make it too difficult for her this morning.

Autumn II
--
Fall is coming, since 21st of September, the temperature just dropped. So now we have pretty cool morning/evening and warm day time. I turned the heater on and unpacked Kitten's clothes, hoping that our flu can go away soon.

Ears
--

Kittten learnt that from Grandma. Now she likes to pull her/our/bear's ears when we ask her to find a ear.

A close look of Kitten.

Little Helper

Kitten loved helping dada putting drawers and shelves together.

She can also work on that by herself.

Grandpa & Grandma
Kittens' grandparents came from China and stayed with for a week. We first got together in Ottawa and headed for Waterloo in the last few days.

We went bird/duck watching.

Both Kittens have meals on highchairs.

That's over 20 kg, grandpa.

On her own

After we set up a play area for her in the living room, Kitten can play by her self for quite a while. Sometimes she needs me to sit nearby and sometimes I can just do my own work in other rooms. Her recent favorite toy is a bucket of Duplo, a type of Lego made for toddlers. We bought that from our neighbor in their garage sale.

This little green table is her draw and reading area. However, since the chairs are still a little too high, now I am considering getting a smaller one to prevent from potential accidents.

Autumn
--
With the beginning of September, many children-related programs are starting in Kitchener-Waterloo(K-W) area. That means, mama and Kitten are going out for fun activities and meet friends again. Yesterday, we have visited Treehouse, a non-profit place that provide daycare for children and workshop/take-a-break time for caregivers. Tomorrow, we'll visit our place, a sister program located in Kitchener. Pretty soon, we'll be able to schedule our activities of the week again. :-)
